No smoking is permitted on the premises.
We maintain a positive discipline policy, which focuses on prevention, redirection, love, and sometimes denial of break periods depending on the gravity of the offence. We stress two main patterns of behavior: Respect for others people and Respect for property. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES will there be Physical abuse, verbal abuse, or name calling. If a discipline problem arises that does not respond to the above mentioned techniques, we will hold a conference with the parents.
The school provides a nutritious feeding program. This doesn't stop parents for giving their children snacks to school if they so wish.
Indoor Play: We provide a variety of age-appropriate toys for indoor play.
Outdoor Play: We will be playing outdoor play every day. Our activities will include walks, playground, water play, bike/toy riding and others.
There will be a designated nap/rest time each day. Rest time gives everyone a much needed break during the day. Without rest time, some children are argumentative in the afternoon, short- tempered with other children and not real happy when they go home in the evening.
We expect the children to be toilet-trained before they commence the preschool class. We do understand however, that accidents happen and recommend that each child has a change of clothes in school apart from the uniform provided.
We do our best to maintain strict cleanliness and hygiene standards as excellence is one of our tenets. Children's hands are washed before and after meals and after toileting. Each child has a separate nap mat. Please provide sheets, blankets and pillows that are washed weekly. Mats are wiped with disinfectant. (Applicable to the crèche and preschool).
Parents need to supply a couple of extra changes of clothing each day.
Occasionally, we may have the opportunity to take a field trip. We welcome parents who choose to participate in the field trip, you will be required to make some arrangements for your child for that day. You will be required to sign a permission slip.
A child celebrating his/her birthday may come to school dressed in home clothes. They can bring along a cake and a moderate party/goodie bags, drinks to share with their classmates. This should be submitted to the child's -teacher along with serviette, plates and a knife for the cake. Under no circumstances will a Camera Man/Photographer be allowed into the classroom to take birthday pictures. The school official cameraman will take the picture of the celebrant. Candles and matches are not permitted for safety reasons.
The following illness policies will be strictly enforced, for the health, well-being and safety of all concerned. Sick Child Policy: parents are advised not to bring in a child with infectious disease, if the child shows any signs of illness, or is unable to participate in the normal and regular day program. Sick children expose other children, as well as staff, to the spread of their illness and require additional care and attention that we are UNABLE to give. Moreover, sick children want care from their parents in the comfort of their own homes.
If other children become ill due to exposure to your sick child, either because he/she was returned to school before full recovery or because he/she was not picked up promptly upon notice of becoming ill, other parents will be unnecessarily inconvenienced. Because this is disruptive to other children and their families, your cooperation on this issue is extremely important.
Every effort is taken to reduce the spread of illness by encouraging hand washing and other sanitary practices. If your child is unable to participate in normal activities of the day, (including being able to play outside), then your child must stay home.
If a child presents symptoms of illness, the child will be provided with first line medication at the school's sick bay. Parents will be informed immediately. If the sickness escalates before the arrival of the parents, the child will be taken to the nearest hospital. However parents are advised not to bring children with infectious disease such as mumps, chicken pox to school for obvious reasons. If a child is present in school with a symptoms of an infectious disease parents will be notified to come pick up their ward. This will be done with utmost care and concern.
